Song for the week

Happy holidays!
I hope everyone has had an amazing Christmas period; enjoying family time, great food and drink and unwrapping the amazing gifts Santa (in different shapes and sizes) brought you! Now there are the New Year celebrations to look forward to!

I was unsure when I would be posting again before the new year but inspiration has struck at 1am in the morning. I find it difficult sleeping; ever since I was born I have never been keen on sleeping (you sleep when you are dead, right?). So this is why you are getting this post.

  
I achieved 30,000 words this month for the Sibling novel. I shared on Twitter novelaesthetics (I will be starting a Pinterest for this soon) and it got me thinking of the future. I know it will not end on this novel (possibly 3, maybe less, maybe more). I have been listening to music at night recently and came across a song that I have not heard in such a long time. Once I heard it, I realised it fit in well with a storyline in the novel and will guide me through the writing process over the week (it won’t give too much away for the possible readers). So for the first ever Song for the week and one that has provided inspiration, I present to you the lyrics of Motley Crue’s If I die tomorrow.   1. Sleep is overrated and seems like such a waste of time. The progress you’ve made this month is inspirational. Im pretty sure I ate 30,000 cookies this month. So I’d say we’ve both been productive ;p
    Love this idea and love this song. It acts as a perfect teaser and only makes me more excited to see what’s in store for the siblings 😀

  2. I too get a lot of inspiration from songs. Every so often, there is one song that resonates with me, whether its a new release or an oldie.

    I love hearing other writer’s song inspiration because it helps me understand the tone of their book if that makes sense 🙂 There is something about music that ignites emotion and sets a pace for novel writing and can tell me a lot about the type of book you’ve been writing 😉

    1. Songs can be great inspiration! Even just a tune can send us away to a new world.
      I really enjoyed what you did with the soundtrack to your book, as similar to you, does set a pace and gives an indication about the type of book.

        I have now returned the Pinterest follow. I shall keep an eye on your novel aesthetics boards. I have similar boards for EVO Nation and one I have just started for EVO Shift. 🙂

  3. Music is the source of all inspiration. I remember writing the first draft of the novel I’m editing right now. I was 16 then and had just gotten an MP3 player for Christmas (my first one). Mostly soundtrack stuff, but there were songs like Beauty and the Beast, One Jump Ahead, Go the Distance and Part of Your World (Disney was always inspiring). I adore Motley Crue, but haven’t heard this song in a while! Thanks for reminding me of it!
