Supplementary Sunday – Issue One

  
So, officially this is Issue One! Last week was the build up, this week the execution. It has been a busy week! We have put up our Christmas Tree and decorations, I have worked, been away for a couple of days, challenged myself with new writing styles, started a first draft of a Novel, sent out a poll on Twitter and successfully slept less than 16 hours in seven days. 

Christmas Fat 

 

I am fat. There is no denying it, I am fat! I kind of look like the Grinch, just not as green and I might be slightly more hairy (out of those two, one of them is true). Over the past year I have put on weight since injuring my knees and unable to perform gym exercises. I indulge in food and occasionally alcohol just the same and this resulted in a increase of weight. This Christmas I will indulge further into eating fine food and drinking good alcohol (Gin and Tonic -anyone, anyone? Fine I’ll get my own). But next year will be a new me and I intend to lose the pounds and become more creative. So bring on the sausage rolls, the turkey, the chocolate, the sweets, the alcohol and the free nibbles from the family houses! Bring it all on, for we are all allowed some Christmas fat! 

Sixty word story

This week I challenged myself to a sixty word story. I enjoyed it so much that it will continue Monday to Friday next week telling the tale of Sam and Jennifer. (If you have not read the previous stories, please check out First Dance followed by First Time). This is an experiment to see how it works and something I may look into more in the new year.

Fun Facts

Humm, I think I may have to change the title of this section as I am not sure how fun my facts really are. They are more statements of truth! Ooh I think I prefer that. I like it. Nonetheless, as promised, here is –

Fun Fact – I once saw Owen Wilson in London and I was so amazed by his nose that I tripped and almost fell.

I liked the title too much not to use it!

I was once champion of my primary school chess club and competed against other schools and entered competitions frequently. I never won a competition, haven’t entered one in years but still enjoy the game. Note: Close friends and family members think this is best unsaid – oh well.

The week before Christmas – story specials

  

So this week I sent out a poll to see what genre readers would like to see on my blog the week leading up to Christmas. Fantasy won hands down. I have committed to writing four stories in the Fantasy genre for that week. I look forward to the challenge and a big thank you to all that voted! 

Here’s a little rough excerpt that I wrote today for a story:

“Father, I fear my death will come at the battle of Hy’grid.” 
“My child, you are a believer of Yeter, are you not?”
“Yes father.”
“Do not fear death, embrace it, for there shall come a time when the Daggers of Demen will have its day. You will be led into the light, and not the dark.
Until that day, live for love, live for Yeter, but most importantly, live for yourself.”

And finally! 

Novel: The Sibling story 

Okay, to be honest with you, I don’t know what the finished product will be called but I will refer to it as its original name, the Sibling Story. 

This weeks word count (taken from Sunday to Saturday): 10,886

*Happy happy dance and grind* Since the story started I have been on a huge drive with this and the words keep flowing. I know how the story will end (for the first book, at least), but will allow the characters in the driving seat. I learn new things each day from them, some good, some shocking, but I hope you enjoy reading it once out. 

Here is an unedited excerpt from one of the chapters that I have written this week:

Fer thought back to what Dee had said. There was a coach for the men. If they wanted the child from the mother, what could they possibly want from the father? Or any man at that matter? She also thought about the women who were not pregnant. What had happened to them? Had they been collected by the Operation? The more she thought about it, the more questions were raised.
“I’m sorry, I don’t mean to pry, but how was you brought here?” Fer asked.
Alice shook her head and tears formed in the corner of her eyes. “I have no idea. I was blindfolded and when they removed it I was at the gate.”
