First Dance

This is a different post to the one that was planned. It was scheduled to be a dark, twisted tale that had been introduced by the Death Haiku.

Since then, I was informed that a colleague of mine and a woman who I had known for some time had passed away. She was a lovely person, brought joy to the workplace and will be dearly missed by all who had come in to contact with her. My thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time.

Therefore I have postponed the planned story for the foreseeable future. Instead I challenged myself to writing a sixty word story. It is light hearted and I enjoyed writing it. It was completed at short notice but I hope you enjoy.

                                     First Dance

The teenagers danced to the sound of classical music. Her hands were placed on his shoulders, his hands rested on her hips, their eyes twinkled and smiles reciprocated. To them, time had stopped and life beyond the room no longer existed; all worries and problems fading into nothingness. They continued to dance as their lips met for the first time.

  1. First, my condolences for your loss. It’s never easy to lose someone. I admire your choice to postpone your short story. It shows true respect.
And what talent you have! – to create such an emotional attachment to two people in just the span of 60 words. I was enthralled by it and the ending left me a little teary. So beautifully written. Thank you for sharing it.

    1. Thank you for your condolences. I could not bring myself to post such a dark tale as the one planned.
Thank you very much for the comments. It was my first venture into restricted words and was concerned on the finished product. Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for reading! Your feedback is most welcome, all the time ๐Ÿ™‚
